In the global era of the culture-world, according to the philosopher Gilles Lipovetsky, images take position, and art can be transformed into an instrument of thought, one that reveals reality, the reality of the other, that which is usually invisible to our eyes. In this sense the image becomes territory for reflection.
The social artist inquires into the memory of the other, building from the dialogued experience with the territory they inhabit, and from their own memory too, the paths that have been weaved from journeys, migrations, wars, conquests or exiles that intertwine with our own.
The projects of Rubén H. Bermúdez, Carol Caicedo, Laura Carrascosa Vela y Luis Carlos Tovar let us inquire into those other realities that inhabit our space, other cultures, other people, and let us reflect on how we position ourselves before them.
